Today, we are thrilled to share the latest additions to our card collection and the exciting moments we experienced while acquiring them throughout the week. Among the most anticipated items we obtained were the recently released 2023-24 Panini Select Basketball NBA Blaster and the 2024 Bowman Baseball Blaster, both of which were purchased from Target. Additionally, we made several purchases at the Dallas Card Show we attended this past weekend and on popular platforms such as eBay, PWCC, and ALT which we will discuss in greater detail below. These platforms have provided us with a wide range of options and allowed us to diversify our collection.
While our recent focus has been on acquiring slabs and investing in getting some of our raw cards graded, the thrill of getting our hands on a newly released blaster or mega box and personally unveiling some of our favorite players remains unmatched. The rush of excitement and nostalgia makes us feel like kids again. We were fortunate enough to secure a few of the cards we were chasing and were rewarded with some nice additions to our PCs. Now, let’s delve into the highlights and discuss our favorites of the week.

A few of our favorite slab purchases we made this week include the 2021-22 Donruss Optic Anthony Edwards T-Minus Purple Prizm SGC 10, the 2019 Panini Chronicles Luka Doncic PSA 10, and the 2023 Bowman Draft Wyatt Langford Transformative Talent SGC 10. We acquired the Wyatt Langford and Luka Doncic slabs through auctions on eBay, while the Anthony Edwards slab was won via an auction at PWCC.

We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of luck we experienced while opening the latest blasters. Among our notable finds from the Panini Select collection were the highly sought-after Victor Wembanyama Concourse Blue Prizm RC, an eye-catching Chet Holmgren Concourse Orange Flash Prizm, and a Stephen Curry Concourse Blue Prizm. As for the 2024 Bowman baseball blaster, we were thrilled to pull a Wyatt Langford Prospect Power-Up, a standout Evan Carter Rookie of the Year Favorites RC, and an impressive Kelvin Hidalgo 1st Bowman Chrome On-Card Auto. These pulls exceeded our expectations, as we haven’t had much luck lately with retail blasters, and added to the excitement of our sports card collecting journey.

To end the week, we jumped at the opportunity to attend the Dallas Card Show, renowned as the largest card show series in the nation. This event served as a gathering point for a dynamic community of card enthusiasts, providing a unique platform for engaging with fellow collectors and gaining valuable insights from industry experts. A few highlights from the card show included my purchase of a 2022 Capstone Bobby Witt Jr. Rookie Auto, as he is currently one of my favorite players in the league. I was excited to find a few quality cards of his to add to my personal collection. Moreover, I was thrilled to stumble upon a Chipper Jones 1992 Upper Deck Hologram Rookie Card. While I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed by the limited selection of women’s sports cards, despite the recent surge of interest in women’s basketball and the exponential growth of fans, I was still able to find a few noteworthy additions to our women’s sports PC. Among my personal favorites are the 2023 Bowman U Chrome Caitlin Clark Refractor, the 2023 Panini Origins WNBA Roots of Greatness Sabrina Ionesco/Breanna Stewart, and the 2023 Panini Origins WNBA Teal Lexie Hull.

During the event, we had the privilege of meeting Texas Ranger Hall of Famer, Josh Hamilton. Luckily, we had the perfect item for him to sign, a 2013 Topps Tribute Commemorative Cuts Relic card that we had purchased a few weeks prior from a vendor at an antique market. Despite the long line, Hamilton demonstrated his commitment to his fans by taking his time with each signature, ensuring that every item was signed with precision. His team exhibited remarkable professionalism, diligently ensuring that the markers were in optimal condition and that the surfaces of the items to be signed were prepared well.

Attending events of this caliber, such as the Dallas Card Show, not only enriches our esteemed collection but also provides us with invaluable connections and insights within the industry. We eagerly anticipate participating in more events of this nature in the future, as they serve as a catalyst for expanding our card collection and fostering relationships within the vibrant card community.
